Protesters were seen denouncing the election at the gate of the CAF Centre of Excellence in Mbankomo. Eto’o, a former Cameroon star player, was elected to the FECAFOOT presidency for the first time in 2021. His first term was mixed with controversies. His relationship with Cameroon national team coach Marc Brys often made headlines.

The legendary striker hopes to bring positive change to the nation’s football after a dreadful 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifier campaign. His responsibility will be to bring back the glory days of Cameroon football.
