Etta Eyong, Koyalipou and Pape Gueye shine in La Liga week five

Round five from Spain’s La Liga continued on Saturday as Levante stunned Girona thanks to a strong effort from Karl Etta Eyong while Pape Gueye helped Villarreal came from behind to defeat Osasuna at home.

It was a glorious day for Levante, who ran riot against Girona. Levante put four unanswered goals past their opponents to register their first win of the season. Cameroon international Etta Eyong broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime through a header. The 21-year-old has now scored his third league goal of the season in just his fifth appearance as he continues his fine form.

Central African Republic striker Goduine Koyalipou bagged his first goal for Levante after joining them on loan from French Ligue 1 side Lens at the beginning of the season. Koyalipou was only making his second start after an ankle injury left him out of the opening three matches of the season.

Villarreal rallied from behind to beat Osasuna 2-1. Senegal midfielder Pape Gueye scored the winner five minutes before time as Villarreal recorded their third win of the season to sit third with 10 points. The former Olympique de Marseille midfielder has so far netted two goals in the 2025/26 season.
