Ghana international Iñaki Williams recorded a brace in Athletic Club’s victory at ten-man Fenerbahce in their Europa League group stage encounter on Wednesday.
A defensive howler by the home side saw Gorka Guruzeta pounce on the loose ball to set up Iñaki who easily tapped in with just four minutes into the game.
Jose Mourinho’s men huffed and puffed, panting for the equalizer but failed in their bid to pull parity. The visitors from Spain equally left nothing to chance with their incursions at the wings which paid off with a second goal on the stroke of half time.
Oihan Sancet teed off Williams on the right flank and the Black Stars forward charged into Fenerbahce’s penalty area before firing beneath goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic and into the net.
The 2-0 victory pushes the Spanish club into top spot on 16 points from 6 games - three points better than second placed Lazio who have a game tomorrow against Dutch club, Ajax.
Iñaki Williams has so far scored four goals from 6 games in the ongoing Europa League season. The 30-year-old has 16 La Liga matches with 4 goals and 4 assists under his belt.
