A statement from Dynamos confirmed the signing: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Nigeria international, Evans Ogbonda on a permanent deal.
“Ogbonda, a left back, joins from Enugu Rangers, where he featured in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL). He becomes the second Nigerian-born player in the Power Dynamos squad this season, following the signing of Samuel Ayodeji Bamidele last year.”
The statement added: “Our Chief Executive Officer Gibson Chaloba said the acquisition of Evans is intended to add depth to the squad to remain competitive at the highest level. Welcome to Power Dynamos, Evans.”
Dynamos will face the Moroccoan outfit seeking their second victory in Group A following their morale-boosting 1-0 away win against Rivers United.
Speaking ahead of the game, Dynamos coach Osward Mutapa said Dynamos are motivated and targeting nothing short of victory.
Mutapa further said the squad’s confidence has been lifted by a hard-fought 1-0 away win over Nigeria’s Rivers United, a result he believes has sharpened the team’s focus as they chase a spot in the knockout stage.
He told reporters in Ndola ahead of the matchday five: “The victory in Nigeria has been a huge morale booster. You can see it in each and every one of us. We are ready to fight against Berkane tomorrow (Saturday).
Mutapa stressed Dynamos will approach the encounter with the seriousness it deserves, acknowledging that the match will not be an easy one. He appealed to Dynamos supporters to rally behind the team, emphasising that home advantage was crucial at this stage of the competition.
