Nigerian senior men’s national team defender Ola Aina is reportedly on the radar of English Premier League club Everton FC in the January transfer window.
According to reports, Aina—who plays for fellow EPL side Nottingham Forest—is highly rated by Everton manager David Moyes, who is keen to strengthen his team’s defence before the end of the month.
The Toffees’ regular right-back and club captain, Seamus Coleman, now in his 17th season at the club, has been sidelined for much of the 2025/26 campaign with recurring hamstring issues, including a significant injury sustained in late 2025.
Meanwhile, Coleman’s backup, Nathan Patterson, has struggled to maintain fitness and consistency, leading to reports that he may be allowed to join Sevilla on loan to regain form. This has forced Moyes to use makeshift options, such as midfielder James Garner or centre-back Jake O’Brien, out of position.
Aina recently returned from a lengthy injury layoff and has featured regularly for Forest since making his comeback. The Nigerian international signed a long-term contract extension with Nottingham Forest in July 2025, which keeps him at the City Ground until June 2028.
