Mamelodi Sundowns’ age-defying goalkeeper Denis Onyango has warned his team-mates that every match is now a final for the South African giants.
The 39-year-old shot-stopper has urged the team to stay alert against struggling Richards Bay when they meet in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday.
Onyango – a battle-hardened veteran with multiple trophies to his name – issued the caution as Sundowns shift focus back to domestic duties following their CAF Champions League semi-final triumph over Al Ahly.
“It is not going to be an easy task. Every game is a final for us, and we hope to win each remaining game this season. Our supporters have pushed us through thick and thin, and this is where we need them the most,” the 39-year-old told Sundowns media.
Waiting for Miguel Cardoso’s men are Richards Bay, a Durban-based side with their backs against the wall and desperate to avoid relegation from the Betway Premiership.
With that in mind, the Ugandan custodian has urged Sundowns players to tread carefully. Richards Bay currently sit third from bottom in 13th place, just three points ahead of SuperSport United.
