Ex-Al Ahly star Luis Miquissone sets Mozambique league target

Former Al Ahly SC’s Mozambican winger Luis Miquissone has set himself a target of winning the golden boot award in his native country.

The Mambas attacker announced his Mozambique Premier League’s ambition after scoring for União Desportiva do Songo (UD Songo) over the weekend once again.

The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns star was on target once for UD Songo when they strolled past CD Chingale with a 5-2 victory on Sunday. Vitinho, Lau King and a brace from Malawian Yamikani Chester completed the hosts’ victory in Tete.

The return to the scoring form of Miquissone, who spent time at Al Ahly when Pitso Mosimane was the coach in 2022, has seen him dreaming big this season.

“I was elected, for the second time, man-of-the match in Mozambique 2025,” he wrote on his Facebook page. “I reach my seventh goal in the competition and remain firm in my fight for the title of top scorer.”

Miquissone leads the scoring race closely followed by team-mate Chester’s six goals.

The Mambas star signed for the two-time Mozambique champions UD Songo last season, returning to the club where he won the 2016 Mozambique Cup and the 2017 league title

The 29-year-old returned to the Tete-based team after spells at Sundowns, Al Ahly in Egypt then Simba SC and Abha of Saudi Arabia.

Miquissone was also on the books of Abha Club in Saudi Arabia after leaving Al Ahly in 2023.
