Chivaviro takes career to Saudi Arabia after Chiefs exit

Saudi Arabian club Al Adalah Sports Club has officially announced the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs striker Ranga Chivaviro. The 32-year-old joins the second-tier team on a free transfer after his departure from the Soweto giants at the end of last season.

Chivaviro’s move to Al Adalah comes after a challenging two-year stint with the Soweto giants. He arrived at Kaizer Chiefs with significant expectations following a prolific season with Marumo Gallants, where he scored an impressive 17 goals across all competitions. That performance had also attracted interest from other clubs, including Young Africans.

Unfortunately, Chivaviro was unable to replicate his goal-scoring form at Naturena. In his first season, he netted just four goals, followed by five in his second. Over 45 appearances for the club, he scored nine goals and provided one assist.

The striker’s next destination was the subject of much speculation. He was linked to a number of clubs, including Chippa United, Tanzania’s Azam FC, and teams in North Africa, Iraq, and Hong Kong, before Al Adalah secured his services.

Al Adalah, a club based in Al-Ahsa, will be hoping Chivaviro’s experience can help them push for promotion. The team, which finished fifth last season and narrowly missed out on promotion in the playoffs, is banking on the former Premiership star to bolster their attack.

While the club did not disclose the terms of the contract, reports suggest it’s a one-year deal. Their next big test will be a King’s Cup of Champions match against Al-Hilal on Monday, September 22.
