Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has downplayed claims he was headed to coach either Tanzania champions Young Africans or their rivals Simba SC.
While the Msimbazi Reds are still searching for the replacement of South African coach Fadlu Davids, who left on mutual agreement to take charge at Moroccan side Raja Casablanca, the Citizens are reportedly looking to fire coach Romain Folz after only two matches to the season.
“Nimeona watu wanasema nimekuja hapa kwa ajili ya Simba, wengine wanasema Yanga, hapana! Nipo hapa kwa safari yangu binafsi, nadhani hii ni mara ya tatu nakuja hapa,
“Tanzania ni nyumbani ndio maana napenda sana kuja hapa, tangu nimefika sijakutana na kiongozi yeyote wa Simba… pic.twitter.com/r5D2bGCHTF

According to reports in Tanzania, Young Africans believe the French manager is not good enough to help them achieve their targets for the season. So far this season in the league, Folz has overseen the 3-0 win against Pamba Jiji and the 0-0 draw against Mbeya City.
The presence of Tunisian coach Nabi in Tanzania has elicited debate across Yanga, and Simba fans. However, Nabi has come out to distance himself from the links to the two most successful clubs in the East African region.
“I have seen people say I came here for Simba, others say Yanga, no! I am here on my own journey, I think this is the third time I have come here,” said Nabi.
“Tanzania is my home, and that is why I love coming here, since I arrived I have not met any Simba leader, or even Yanga leader, I am here for my own visit, nothing much.”
In the 2021 to 2023 season, Nabi coached Young Africans but resigned to join Moroccan AS FAR recruited him for two seasons. In July 2024, he became the head coach of South African side Kaizer Chiefs.
