Ex-Kaizer Chiefs favourite Khuzwayo joins Eswatini giants

Former Kaizer Chiefs favourite goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo has joined the coaching panel of Eswatini giants Mbabane Highlanders AM.

Owned by former Royal AM’s South African football administrator Shawn Mkhize, the Eswatini Premier League team confirms the arrival of the former Orlando Pirates star.

“Mbabane Highlanders AM Football Club is pleased to confirm the appointment of Brilliant Khuzwayo to the club’s technical team with immediate effect,” reads the statement.

“A former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Khuzwayo joins the Black Bull with vast top-flight experience from the South African Premier Soccer League, coupled with international exposure through Bafana Bafana.

“His professionalism, technical insight and contemporary approach to the game are expected to play a key in driving performance and player development across the club..”

What we know about Mbabane Highlanders AM

Popularly known as Ezimnyama Ngenkani or Black Bull, the club has won the domestic league championship 13 times.

Mkhize took over Mbabane Highlanders FC’s mantle last year and renamed it with the addition of AM on the name.

Mkhize bounced back onto the football stage months after South Africa’s elite league governing body expelled her Royal AM from the flagship Betway Premiership over worsening financial problems which saw curators handling the Durban-based club’s affairs.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) Board of Governors (BOG) overwhelmingly voted to throw out Royal AM from the elite league. Royal AM were then put under curatorship after the South African Revenue Service took Mkhize to task over outstanding taxes.
