Former Harambee Stars Captain Victor Mugubi Wanyama has parted ways with CF Montreal.

He joined them four years ago from English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. Confirming the development, the former Harambee Stars captain said: “It’s been an incredible journey filled with memories I’ll cherish forever. Thank you, CF Montreal Wishing you all the best for the future.”

Wanyama was appointed Assistant captain of Montreal in 2022, showcasing leadership both on and off the pitch. He played a pivotal role in the midfield, providing strength, stability, and precision passes.

In 2020, Wanyama helped the team reach the CONCACAF Champions League quarter-finals and he made over 100 appearances, a testament to his reliability and influence on the team.

Wanyama became the first ever Kenyan player to score in the UEFA Champions League when he scored the first goal in Celtic's 2–1 win over Barcelona on 7 November 2012.

On 11 July 2013, Wanyama moved to Premier League club Southampton for £12.5 million, making him the most expensive player sold by a Scottish club at the time, surpassing the £9.5 million Russian club Spartak Moscow paid for Aiden McGeady in 2010.

In 2016 he moved to Southampton's Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur where he stayed until March 2020, when he signed with Major League Soccer club Montreal Impact.

Wanyama earned over 60 caps for Kenyan national team since making his international debut in May 2007 at age 15.
