Former Tanzania’s Simba SC coach Dimitar Pantev is said to be the frontrunner for Botswana’s Mochudi Centre Chiefs’ job. Reports suggest that the Bulgarian is the preferred choice to fill the void created by Pontsho Moloi’s sacking last week.
The Tanzania Mainland Premier League giants wielded the axe on Pantev following uninspiring results in the CAF Champions League group-stage. He lasted less than two months on the demanding job after leaving another Botswana team, Gaborone United.
At Simba, the Bulgarian presided over six games across all competitions posting three wins, one draw and two defeats for Simba, not too bad overall, but not good enough in the context of the Champions League’s Group D assignments.
Now, the FNB Premiership winning coach is expected to make a sensation to Mochudi Centre Chiefs who have been busy reinforcing their playing squad and coaching panel.
Evans Rusike is among new recruits at Mochudi Centre Chiefs, joining former Orlando Pirates Reserves coach Aubrey Vilakazi has come in as a goalkeeper coach.
Mochudi Centre Chiefs have also hired Shagwa Mogwe as a Fitness, Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Mochudi Centre Chiefs lie in fifth place with 24 points, eight behind league leaders Gaborone United.
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Stanton Fredericks owns Mochudi Centre Chiefs FC through his consortium.
The former South African international recently signed a 15-year management contract with a sporting consortium which he leads. The consortium is called Stanton Fredericks Sports Group.
