After the decision was reached to quit Tanzania giants Simba SC, South African coach Fadlu Davids has penned a farewell message to the club he helped finish second in last season’s Mainland Premier League. Davids departed Simba to become coach of Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic after arriving in Casablanca over the weekend.
In a message posted on his social media accounts, Davids further confirmed that he was officially stepping down from his role at the club, and wished them well in their future endevours.
In his message, Davids expressed his gratitude to the club’s management, players, and fans for their support, love, and trust throughout the period he served as the head coach.
“It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to Simba SC. From the moment I arrived, I felt the passion of this great club and the love of its incredible fans. Together we fought, celebrated, and grew stronger through every victory and every challenge.
My deepest gratitude to President Mo Dewji for his inspiring leadership, vision, and constant support. To the players: keep fighting, keep believing, and keep lifting the badge with honour.
To the staff and management: thank you for your trust and tireless dedication behind the scenes. To the Simba fans: you are the heartbeat of this club. Your voices, your songs, your unwavering passion will forever echo in my memory.
Thank you for welcoming my family as your own.
Simba will always be part of me, and I wish the club endless success, prosperity, and trophies ahead.”
Meanwhile, Pan-Africa Football can confirm the Msimbazi Reds are closing in on their main target – Miguel Gamondi – to replace the departed Davids. Gamondi, who was formerly the coach for rivals Young Africans (Yanga SC), is currently handling Singida Black Stars.
“He (Gamondi) is one of the coaches Simba is looking at, I don’t want to say anything for now, but we are unveiling a coach as soon as possible because we have a lot of crucial matches coming up in our calendar,” the source told Pan-Africa Football.
The Argentine coach recently helped Singida to secure their first-ever CECAFA Kagame Cup trophy after defeating Al Hilal of Sudan 2-1 in the final. While at Yanga, Gamondi managed 40 league matches, won 34, drew two games and suffered four defeats.
He led the club to unprecedented success in recent years, including breaking a 25-year drought by reaching the CAF Champions League group stage and advancing to the quarterfinals.
Under his leadership, Young Africans claimed the Premier League title, the Federation Cup, and the Community Shield, while also delivering unforgettable victories against both domestic and continental rivals.
