Tanzania Premier League side Singida Black Stars have come out to state that head coach Miguel Gamondi is not available and that he is working on a long-term project with the club.
The Argentine tactician became a transfer subject before the Premier League season kicked off after Simba SC parted ways with coach Fadlu Davids. The exit of the South African coach has left the Msimbazi Reds searching for a replacement and as reported by Pan-Africa Football, they are already negotiating to hire the services of Gamondi.
However, a top Singida official, who did not want to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter, has come out to express unhappiness with Simba for trying to lure their coach, who is already building a project with the club.
“I want to categorically state that our coach Miguel (Gamondi) is not for sale, nothing will make us part ways with the coach. I want you to make it clear, so that Simba can respect our decision,” the official told Pan-Africa Football.
“We only contracted him (months ago), to build a project for Singida, and it will not be possible to let him go. He is already preparing the team for the new season and the return leg of our CAF Confederation Cup fixture.”
While Simba are still searching, they have opted for a temporary measure, after bringing on board Tanzania national team head coach Hemed Suleiman ahead of their Champions League return leg fixture against Gaborone United from Botswana on Sunday.
Simba have been attracted to Gamondi, following his superb performances during his time with rivals Young Africans. He recently helped Singida to secure their first-ever CECAFA Kagame Cup trophy after defeating Al Hilal of Sudan 2-1 in the final. While at Yanga, Gamondi managed 40 league matches, won 34, drew two games and suffered four defeats.
He led the club to unprecedented success in recent years, including breaking a 25-year drought by reaching the CAF Champions League group stage and advancing to the quarterfinals.
Gamondi further guided them to the Premier League title, the Federation Cup, and the Community Shield, while also delivering unforgettable victories against both domestic and continental rivals.
