Kakamega Homeboyz have shown their intentions to challenge for the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title after unveiling nine new signings among them ex-Gor Mahia striker Gedeon Bendeka.
In an exclusive interview with Pan-Africa Football, Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula confirmed that the Congolese forward has signed for the Kakamega-based club on a one-and-half year deal after parting ways with K’Ogalo.
“We have signed Bendeka on a one-and-half year deal ahead of the new season,” Shimanyula told Pan-Africa Football. “We have also signed eight other players to beef up the squad for the new campaign.”
Other new signings include; goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe from Nairobi City Stars, Brian Odhiambo – Kariobangi Sharks, Eugene Ochieng – Kibera Black Stars , Rogers Ouma – Gor Mahia , Joshua Nyatini – KCB, Derrick Otanga – KCB, Samuel Odaro – Mara Sugar, and Rodgers Musonye – Kakamega High School.
“We want to campaign on all fronts for the title, and our mission is to have a squad with quality and experience, to see us through,” added Shimanyula. “We are especially happy to have Bendeka in our squad, he is a good striker, he leaves Gor Mahia having scored eight league goals last season and I know, he will give us more than eight goals.”
The arrival of Bendeka comes after the club had lost striker Moses Shumah to Zambia Super League champions Power Dynamos before the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) kicked off in East Africa.
Shumah was the FKF Premier League’s top scorer with 17 goals from the previous season.
