Zimbabwean international Khama Billiat’s manager has explained why the former Kaizer Chiefs star is not scoring regularly for Scottland FC this Castle Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.

The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns player was in top form last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists for Yadah FC. The 34-year-old finished the 2024 campaign two goals behind the leading scorer.

However, the winger has scored once this PSL season, a fact his manager, Godfrey Bakasa, said does not reflect his client’s form but rather Scottland set-up.

“So far, it has been a slow start, but he has five assists, one goal in week 13 [of the season]. He missed one game, so in 11 games, he made two substitute appearances, so we can say in nine appearances, he has five assists and one goal. The team is in position two,” he told Pan-Africa Football.

Bakasa said the newly-promoted team has many attacking options; hence, taking the weight of responsibility off the former South Africa-based attacker’s shoulders.

“Now the team doesn’t rely on one person. Everyone can come through. It is now different from Yadah FC’s setup, where he was the only star player. There, they had to rely on him, and if he didn’t score or assist, the team would not have a positive result. Now, he is in a team where anyone can score,” the agent explained.

The manager cited reigning PSL Soccer Star of the Year Walter Musona as among Scottland’s attacking options, easing the pressure off Billiat’s shoulders.

“It is a team full of seasoned players, such as last season’s top scorer and Soccer Star of the Year. It is a relatively strong team that is still jelling. Anyone can come up and rescue the team. If he doesn’t score or assist,” he added.

The former Chiefs star moved to Scottland at the end of his one-year contract with Yadah FC last December. The Warriors’ winger revived his career after signing for Yadah FC mid-last year following his exit from South Africa, where he passed up an opportunity to renew his romance with Glamour Boys

The wide midfielder was influential in helping the Warriors return to the continental football showpiece after grabbing an assist in the decisive one-all draw with Kenya’s Harambee Stars in November 2024.
