Exclusive: Namibia expel duo ahead of World Cup qualifier

Namibia coach Collin Benjamin has cracked the whip on two influential members of his squad, two days before a World Cup qualifier.

The Brave Warriors mentor has punished two players after they broke camp rules, Pan-Africa Football has established. A source within the Namibia Football Association confirmed to Pan-Africa Football the expulsion of goalkeeper Loydt Kazapua and striker Isaskar Gurirab.

The duo was released released from camp in Francistown, Botswana after sneaking out of the team’s hotel without permission on Friday night.

The two players sneaked out a few hours after Namibia suffered a home 1-2 loss to Malawi at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown. It was the first defeat in seven Group H games for Namibia in the World Cup qualifiers.

Kazapua started from the bench as Benjamin featured Edward Maova between the sticks. Gurirab was an unused substitute. Namibia succumbed to goals from Richard Mbulu and Gabadinho Mhango in either half for Malawi.

Substitute David Ndeunyema scored the face-saver for Benjamin’s men to remain seven points behind leaders Tunisia. The next game for the Brave Warriors is against São Tomé and Príncipe on Tuesday.
