Mapeza draws on the experience of Musona and Billiat

Scottland FC head coach Norman Mapeza has lauded the significant influence of veterans Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona on his squad as they prepare for the 2026-2027 Zimbabwean football season.

The veteran attackers are among the high-profile stars the reigning Castle Lager PSL champions secured last season, immediately following their promotion from the country’s second-tier division.

The impact of these former Kaizer Chiefs stalwarts was instantaneous for Scottland FC; their contributions were pivotal as the club remarkably clinched the league title during its debut campaign in Zimbabwe’s top-flight division.

The Roles of Billiat and Musona in the Scottland FC Project

Ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated showdown against FC Dynamos in Harare, Mapeza emphasized the vital leadership provided by his veteran trio within the championship-winning camp.

“The players have been performing exceptionally well,” Mapeza remarked. “When you look at the senior figures—Knowledge Musona, Khama Billiat, and Walter Musona—I consider myself very fortunate because I have worked with them in previous capacities.

“They understand me on a personal level and are fully aware of what I expect from them. Consequently, they have been instrumental in helping me manage and guide the squad in that specific department.”

What Lies Ahead for Scottland FC This Season?

The former Warriors national team coach assumed the mantle at the Castle Lager PSL champions during the pre-season, succeeding Tonderai Ndiraya.

Mapeza transitioned to the title holders from FC Platinum, while Ndiraya subsequently moved to Chicken Inn FC. To ensure they are properly fine-tuned for their title defense, the reigning champions engaged in an extensive pre-season tour across Eswatini and South Africa.

Now, Mapeza intends to finalize his preparations for the upcoming campaign with a high-stakes encounter against FC Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium in Harare, competing for the Castle Lager Super Challenge Cup.
