Seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Express FC are set to strengthen their midfield options with the acquisition of former Wakiso Giants star Lawrence Bukenya according to Swift Sports Uganda.
The midfielder has already agreed terms with the Red Eagles and is expected to sign a two-year contract.
Bukenya, a graduate of the KCCA Soccer Academy, has previously featured in the top flight with Kitara FC and most recently Wakiso Giants, where he established himself as a dependable figure in midfield.
Express FC, guided by head coach Badru Kaddu, are also keeping tabs on Bukenya’s former teammates at Wakiso, Moses Oloya and Musa Segujja as the club targets a mix of experience and youth in their recruitment drive.
The Red Eagles are rebuilding after losing key players, including Saidi Kyeyune, who joined Police FC, and defender Alex Emmanuel Wasswa, who is on his way to Kitara FC.
Last season, Express endured a tough campaign, finishing 10th with 39 points from 30 matches, and will be eager to bounce back stronger in the new season.
