Ugandan Premier League side Express FC has parted ways with assistant coach Richard Malinga.
Malinga joined the Red Eagles in November 2025, serving under head coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera following the exit of Badru Kaddu.
His departure coincides with a wave of key player exits from the club.
Forward Richard Basangwa and left back Hakim Wandera have already joined NEC FC, while midfielder Mohammed Ssenoga Kaggwa is also expected to leave during the current transfer window.
The exits are likely to increase the challenges for Kintu and the team as they navigate the remainder of the season, potentially impacting the Red Eagles’ campaign.
Malinga is no stranger to Ugandan football. A former right back for Entebbe Health and KCCA FC, he has also served as head coach for Mbale Heroes and KCCA Junior teams.
Additionally, he led Mawokota Ssaza in the prestigious Masaza Cup competition and last year guided Buddo SS to the USSSA boys’ football title, defeating St. Mary’s SS Kitende in Ngora District.
Express FC now prepares to host bitter rivals SC Villa this Thursday at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo, but the club faces a challenging path ahead for both coach Kintu and the Red Eagles faithful.
