Antoine Semenyo produced a goal and an assist while Mohamed Salah failed to rise to the occasion as Manchester City crushed Liverpool 4-0 in the FA Cup quarterfinals on Saturday.
Semenyo set up Erling Haaland’s second goal with a floated cross in first half stoppage time, eight minutes after the Norwegian opened the scoring from the penalty spot.
The Ghanaian then struck less than five minutes into the second half before Haaland completed his hat-trick before the hour mark in a humiliation of the Reds at Ettihad Stadium.
For Liverpool legend Salah, it was a disastrous outing. The club legend failed to make the most of multiple opportunities to score, including a golden chance in the 13th minute that could have changed the outcome of the match. To add insult to injury, Salah failed to convert a penalty kick with his team down 0-4 in the 64th minute.

But for Semenyo, not only did he find the net but also showed his ability to create for his teammates. His cross to Haaland at the end of the first half, set up by a skilled pass from Rayan Cherki, helped deliver a crushing blow for the Citizens just before halftime.
But even more significantly, it was a revealing match for Salah as his iconic spell with Liverpool approaches the end. A noticeable lack of confidence characterized the Egyptian’s performance, and his missed opportunities played a major role in his team’s capitulation.
