Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids has appealed to the club’s top management to do everything in their means and secure Benjamin Mkapa Stadium as their permanent home for Tanzania Premier League matches and CAF Champions League campaign.
According to the South African coach, Mkapa Stadium allows Simba fans to create a good atmosphere during match days, and further described it as “Simba’s true home”.
“I hope the Premier League allows us to play our home matches here. It will be fantastic,” Davids said as quoted by the Guardian. “More fans will be able to see us play every week. A huge thank you to the supporters who came out today and spent the day with us. It was fantastic to see, and we really need their support.”
The Msimbazi Reds are scheduled to face their rivals Young Africans SC in the Community Shield at the same venue, kicking off Tanzania’s football season with high drama and fierce competition.
“More than half the stadium should be painted red to enjoy a fantastic derby. That’s what football is about in these big matches. I’m really happy with the support, and we’ll see the fans again next week for the Community Shield derby,” added Davids.
The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has confirmed that all preparations are complete for the highly anticipated clash. TFF Media and Communications Officer Cliford Ndimbo said all logistical arrangements have been finalised for the fixture, which will kick off at 5:00 pm local time.
