The exit of the South African coach from the Msimbazi Reds has been a discussion for the past one week across African football fraternity while the club was preparing for their first leg, first round preliminary fixture of the CAF Champions League against Gaborone United of Botswana.
Though Davids travelled with the team which secured a 1-0 advantage ahead of the return leg, the club has now confirmed their decision to severe ties with the coach. Reports indicate that Davids was traveling to Casablanca over the weekend for discussions to sign on as head coach of Raja Club Athletic, where he was previously an assistant under mentor Josef Zinnbauer.
In a post on his social media pages, Simba Media Officer Ahmed Ally confirmed the exit, while wishing the coach all the best in his future endeavors.
“Bye, bye coach Fadlu Davids for the great moments we shared together,” read part of his statement.
Pan-Africa Football can confirm that Simba have already engaged gear to hire the services of Singida Black Stars, Miguel Gamondi, who formerly handled their rivals Young Africans.
The club has further held talks to hire the services of current Kenya national team coach Benni McCarthy, but it is not clear whether he will drop the national team job, and take up the now vacant role.
Simba are currently preparing for the return leg of their Champions League clash against Gaborone slated for Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Saturday.
