Simba SC coach Fadlu Davids has confirmed that he is still in the market for one more signing before he concludes the transfer business ahead of the new season.
Speaking after Simba’s 2-0 victory over Egyptian side Wadi Degla in a friendly match, the South African tactician praised the team’s progress in preseason, but emphasised the need for a final addition, a creative game-changer in the attacking third.
“We’re still looking for that one more ‘X’ factor player, a creative player to give us that spark in the final third,” said Davids as quoted by Daily News. “We came up short last season in crucial games, especially in the final match against Yanga (Young Africans). We need that difference-maker.
“Our hope now, in these final stages of the window, is that Jayrutty Investment can step in and help us land this big signing. It’s the player, who can make a difference in the finals. With Champions League football ahead, this could be the defining step.”
On whether Simba will be strong enough to challenge Young Africans for the league title, he said: “We know how strong Yanga are in big games. To overtake them this season, we need that final piece of the puzzle before the transfer window shuts.”
Simba have organised a pre-season friendly against Kenya giants Gor Mahia to celebrate Simba Day on September 10.
