Falconets to learn 2026 U-20 WWC Qualifier opponent on May 18

Nigeria’s Falconets opponent in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026 qualifiers, which started on Friday, will be known on May 18, 2025. This follows the first leg of the African qualifiers, which kicked off on Friday that saw Ivory Coast secure a 1-0 away victory against Gambia.

The Falconets’s has a bye into the second round of the qualifiers, scheduled for September 19 (first leg) and September 28, 2025 (return leg). Africa’s journey to the ‘Poland 2026’ tournament commenced on 9th May 2025.

The ‘Lady Elephants’ edged the Gambians by a lone goal in the keenly contested match of the first leg of the first round qualifiers played at the Independence Stadium, Bakau when both teams met on Friday, May 9, 2025.

Elsewhere in the qualifiers, Rwanda is set to host Zimbabwe this Sunday at the Kigali Pelé Stadium in Kigali, while Malawi will be looking to gain the upper hand before the return fixture in Bangui.

Minors Central African Republic will travel to Lilongwe to tackle Malawi at Bingu National Stadium, Lilongwe. Backed by home support, the Malawians aim to gain the upper hand before the return leg in Bangui.

In Juba, South Sudan will host Djibouti at Juba Stadium asTogo will also be at home, taking on North African rivals Tunisia at the Stade de Kégué in Lomé.

A total of four nations will represent Africa at global showpiece set for August next year in Poland.
