FC Dallas defender Osaze Urhoghide has officially declared his intention to represent Nigeria at senior international level.

Despite announcing his intention to play for the Super Eagles, the Rotterdam-born player is also eligible to play for the Netherlands and England.

The 24-year-old, who was raised in England, earned a call up in 2019 for Nigeria’s Olympic qualifiers against Libya. But, he could not feature for the team under then-coach Imama Amapakabo due to an injury.

The centre back is however keen to change that narrative and in an interview with Punch Newspapers, Urhoghide made his position clear.

“I am ready to play for my fatherland, Nigeria. I have informed family members of my readiness to play for the Eagles. I am also using this opportunity to let the Nigeria Football Federation know that I am ready,” he said.

After leaving Scottish side Celtic in 2023, Urhoghide joined Ligue 2 outfit Amiens, where he made 41 appearances and netted three goals.

His performances earned him a record-breaking transfer to FC Dallas in February 2025, making him the club’s most expensive defensive signing.
