Kamara impressed while playing for Pau last season. His performances in Ligue 2 earned him plaudits from many, and he was expected to receive offers from top-flight clubs. Kamara left Pau, the club he captained, following the expiration of his contract in June 2025.
Lorient, in an official statement, expressed their satisfaction with the signing. “FC Lorient is pleased to announce today the signing of Bingourou Kamara (28 years old), goalkeeper, for the next two seasons.”
Kamara, 28, told club media that he can’t wait to get started with his new team. “It is with great joy and pleasure that I am joining FC Lorient today, a club that has had some very good goalkeepers in the past. Joining this lineage is a real source of pride, and I hope to bring my experience to this group and to the goalkeeping center. I can’t wait to put on the gloves at Espace FCL and meet my future teammates.”
Lorient lost their number-one goalkeeper, Yvon Mvogo, whose contract expired this summer. Kamara is expected to become the first-choice keeper under manager Olivier Pantaloni. This move could also serve as a stepping stone for Kamara to earn a recall to the Senegal national team ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in December.
