Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce have reportedly tabled a massive offer for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, who finds his future at Italian club Atalanta in serious limbo.
According to Sportmediaset, Fenerbahçe’s proposal is a four-year contract that would see Lookman earn a staggering €6 million per year, making him one of the highest-paid players in the league.
This comes as the Turkish transfer window remains open until September 12, giving clubs a unique opportunity to secure players after the deadline has closed in most of Europe’s top leagues.
However, the Istanbul side are yet to reach an agreement with Atalanta. The Italian club has a high valuation of the player, reportedly demanding a fee of over €50 million for a permanent transfer.
This latest news comes at a time that Galatasaray are also speculated to be interested in signing the reigning African Player of the Year.
Lookman’s situation at Atalanta has been difficult since the start of the summer. After a failed attempt to force a move to Inter Milan, he has been training separately from the main squad and has not been included in any of Atalanta’s matchday squads this season.
