FIFA president Gianni Infantino will visit Botswana in November to discuss football development matters with the authorities in the Southern African nation.

In a statement, the Botswana Football Association (BFA) confirms that the world football governing body’s authority’s top chief will visit Gaborone from 9 to 11 November.

“The high-level visit reaffirms FIFA’s steadfast commitment to the development and growth of football in Botswana and across the African continental,” the statement reads.

What is Infantino coming to do in Botswana?

“During his stay, president Infantino is expected to engage with key stakeholders, including the government of the Republic of Botswana and the leadership of the BFA to deliberate on football development programmes, capacity building initiatives, and areas of strategic collaboration.”

The BFA has since hinted that they will form a committee to organise the arrival ceremony of Infantino.

He is the second FIFA president to visit Botswana after his predecessor Sepp Blatter over a decade ago.

Infantino is expected to be accorded VIP treatment during his stay in Botswana.
