Ahead of their important 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Group G match against Juventus, Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca received a big boost after the resolution of Omar Al Somah's visa issues. The Syrian striker joined Wydad for training in the United States and will be available for Sunday's clash with the Italian club.

"Peace be upon you, our Syrian fans and Wydad fans. I wanted to greet you and wish you a good evening. God willing, the day after tomorrow will be my first match with Wydad Club. By God’s will, I will raise the name of my country, bring joy to the Syrians, and bring joy to the Wydad fans."

Al Somah was not available for Wydad's tournament opener against Manchester City, a match that ended 0-2 for WAC. The 36-year-old immediately adds a proven goal scorer to a team that is noticeably lacking in striking options to lead the attack.

Cassius Mailula started up top against Manchester City but the diminutive South African struggled to make an impact in a defensive formation. Ghanaian forward Samuel Obeng, a more natural striker, came on as a substitute but has had limited success during his time with Wydad.

Al Somah is one of the most accomplished goal scorers in the Gulf region and his addition adds a much needed element to the Wydad attack. In a team that was plenty of wingers and forwards who are more accustomed to playing behind a focal point, Al Somah provides Wydad coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem with a natural "#9" option who has scored over 200 goals over nine seasons in the Saudi Pro League.

Wydad face Juventus in the opening match (17:00 GMT) from Sunday's slate of games at the FIFA Club World Cup. Wydad must get at least a draw or they will likely be eliminated from contention to reach the Round of 16.
