Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams has revealed what the South African giants have gathered about their first opponents at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the USA.
The Betway Premiership champions have been drawn in Group F alongside CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores champions Fluminense FC, German giants Borussia Dortmund and South Korea’s Ulsan HD.
They will face Ulsan HD on Wednesday in the opener, take on Borussia Dortmund at TQL Stadium in matchday two on Saturday, June 21, before winding up their group stage fixtures against Fluminense at Hard Rock Stadium on Wednesday, June 25.
Ahead of their first game at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, Adams was asked about what he knew about their opponents, and he said as quoted by SABC Sports: “I think Ulsan are a good team, they defend really well, they’ve got a good counter-press, and they are a good ball-playing side too.
“It was a bit difficult for us to do our homework on them because we don’t know them at all, but the preparation went well, the team is ready, and it should be a good challenge.”
On how Sundowns have settled into their camp in Florida, he said: “We are staying and training in a high-quality and professional set-up, but Florida is so hot, luckily, the boys are adjusting to the weather.”
Asked about his impending debut in the global stage, the 24-year-old explained: “The experience of this FIFA Club World Cup is slowly starting to sink in. The training facilities, the weather, and the people have all been excellent.
“The reason why I joined Mamelodi Sundowns was to represent a big club, but also to play big matches like Champions League finals and Club World Cup matches. We are very focused on this tournament, and we hope to showcase our talent to the world.”
