Zamalek’s financial crisis has taken another turn after the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) officially imposed a new transfer ban on the Egyptian giants, marking the seventh registration suspension against the club.
According to a source inside the club, speaking to YallaKora, the latest ban is linked to a complaint filed by Portuguese side Estrela da Amadora with FIFA. The case concerns the transfer of Angolan forward Chico Banza, after Zamalek failed to settle the first installment of the deal.
The same source confirmed that the overdue payment amounts to €200,000, representing the first installment owed to the Portuguese club. As a result, FIFA moved to suspend Zamalek from registering new players until the financial obligation is cleared.
This latest sanction adds to the Egyptian club’s growing list of legal disputes, with FIFA having already revealed six previous cases filed against them since November 3, which highlights the severe financial pressures facing the White Castle.
Unless the outstanding dues are settled, Zamalek will remain unable to reinforce their squad, deepening the challenges for the club amid an already turbulent period on and off the pitch.
