FIFA has sent condolences to the Zimbabwe Football Association following the death of former football star Tendai Ndoro.
The former Orlando Pirates striker was found dead in his apartment in Sandton South Africa earlier this week, seemingly days after his passing following a long battle with diabetes.
The death of the former Ajax Cape Town forward, who was staying alone, sent shock waves in Zimbabwe, South Africa and beyond.
The former Warriors player had fallen on hard times after divorcing his wife in the process losing his substantial wealth, including top-of-the range cars and mansions in South Africa.
In the condolence letter to ZIFA, FIFA president Gianni Infantino paid tribute to Ndoro as a “legend of Zimbabwe football, known for his talent, resilience, and inspiration to many young footballers.”
ZIFA has since said it is “humbled by this show of solidarity from the global football family during this difficult time. Ndoro’s legacy will forever live on in our hearts.”
Ndoro died at the age of 40 and his successful career saw him represent Zimbabwe and other clubs such as Highlands Park FC.
