FIFA Rankings July 2025: Morocco remain Africa’s best as Ivory Coast slip

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced the updated men’s world rankings for July 2025, revealing only minor changes across the African continent. Most of the top teams in Africa retained their places, both globally and within the CAF zone, with a few notable shifts.

Morocco continued to lead the way in Africa, maintaining their 12th place in the world rankings. The Atlas Lions remain the continent’s top-ranked team thanks to their consistent performances.

The most significant change among Africa’s top 10 came from Ivory Coast. The Elephants dropped four places in the global rankings to 45th after a poor international window in which they lost to New Zealand and drew 0-0 with Canada, failing to score in either match.

Nigeria took advantage of Ivory Coast’s decline, moving up to fifth in the African standings. Senegal also improved slightly, climbing to 18th globally, while Egypt dropped two places to 34th. Cameroon, Mali, and South Africa each dropped one place in the global rankings.

Despite these changes, the top 10 teams in Africa remained the same, with no new entries.
