Two goals inside the opening ten minutes lifted Cameroon to a 2-0 victory over China to finish off their FIFA Series fixtures in Australia.
Indomitable Lions supporters were pleased to see their team bounce back from a 0-1 defeat to hosts Australia four days earlier. Coach David Pagou handed out opportunities to a couple of domestic-based players as well as fringe players, who delivered a confident performance.
But it was a young European-based talent who impressed and helped the Lions snatch an early lead. Left back Aboubakar Nagida brought the energy instantly after kick off and his 3rd minute pass was perfect for forward Karl Etta Eyong, who applied the final touch past experienced China goalkeeper Junling Yan.
And by the ten-minute mark it was 2-0 in favor of the African team. In the 9th minute, this time it was two players on the fringe of the squad who combined to make a strong impression on a well-executed set piece.
After a short corner, Nagida’s cross to the near post found Konrad Nfanseu and the Panthère Sportive du Ndé midfielder flicked the ball towards the far post. Swedish-based winger Saidou Alioum arrived to finish with a powerful volley that left Yan with no chance.
China struggled to play themselves into the match, only managing one shot on Lions goalkeeper Simon Ngapandouetnbu’s goal over the course of the ninety minutes. Cameroon’s dominance of the flanks through Nagida and right back Jackson Tchatchoua limited the options for the Chinese attack in a strong performance.

Coach Pagou continues to explore the depths of his player pool ahead of the group stage of 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, with the Indomitable Lions’ campaign set to begin later this year. In the midst of a transition period for the national team, the coach has plenty to consider after a March FIFA window that featured mixed results.
