Abeddy Biramahire finished from Joy-Lance Mickels’ cross in the 30th minute before Mickels’ brother, Leroy, finished the scoring by smashing in from close range following a short corner kick in the 51st minute for his first national team goal.
The Azerbaijan-based Mickels brothers, which also includes Joy-Lance’s twin Joy-Slayd, played a massive role after debuting for Amavubi following their decision to change their international allegiance to the East African nation. The trio was born in Germany and contributed to three of the team’s goals during their two victories this week.
Biramahire, Jojea Kwizera, Al Masry midfielder Bonheur Mugisha and captain Djihad Bizimana were also standout players for Amavubi during the March fixtures. The team kicked off the FIFA window three days earlier with a 4-0 semifinal result over Grenada before Monday’s victory to win the mini-tournament.

While the opponents were not particularly menacing, the victories will serve as a boost of momentum ahead of 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying when the group stage begins later this year for Amavubi.
