FIFA Series: Tanzania thrash Macau in third place match

Tanzania bounced back from a defeat to Liechtenstein on Sunday in the FIFA Series after recording a 6-0 thumping of Macau in Rwanda to finish off their March fixtures.

The Taifa Stars dominated from start to finish, laying siege to an overmatched Macau side at the Kigali Pelé Stadium in the Rwandan capital. The result means that they finish in third place before Aruba and Liechtenstein play later at the same venue to determine the winner of the “Rwanda B” series.

A 16th minute own goal got the scoring started for the East Africans, who found goals from Young Africans players Bakari Mwamnyeto and Mudathir Yahya to finish the first half with a 3-0 lead.

Paul Peter resumed the scoring close to the hour mark before Novatus Miroshi and English-based winger Tarryn Allarakhia added late goals.

Hosts Rwanda are competing in the “Rwanda A” series, where they advanced to the final with a 3-0 victory over Grenada. Amavubi will face Estonia in the final on Monday after the European side took down Kenya in penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw.
