Malawi under-20 national women’s football team coach Maggie Chombo-Sadiki has predicted a 3-0 win over the Central African Republic (CAR) in Sunday's 2026 FIFA U-20 World Cup qualifying match.

Sadiki, the former Malawian international, told the Football Association of Malawi media that she had seen enough fire and zeal in her girls to believe that they could emphatically win the match at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

“The girls are ready. We have done all the preparations and I can see the morale in camp is high,” she said.

Sadiki admitted that she had little knowledge of CAR’s performance, but insisted that scoring early is the solution in such a circumstance.

“When playing against an opponent you don’t know, you just have to prepare very well. What I have told the girls is that we should use all the weapons at our disposal. We have to score early goals to have all the capabilities to win the game,” the coach explained.

“I have seen the girls in training; their effort and courage. So I hope that we will win this match, maybe by 3-0 or 4-0. Therefore, I am urging all the supporters to come in large numbers to support the girls.”

The fourth and final 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup African qualifiers were officially underway on Friday, with Ivory Coast winning their first leg tie against Gambia. Four nations will represent Africa at the global showpiece set for August next year.

The first leg of the remaining qualifying duels will take place on May 11, with the return legs scheduled for May 16-18.
