FIFA World Cup Draw: Ghana Sports Minister rallies for favouable group

Ghana’s Sports Minister Kofi Adams has urged all Ghanaians to rally for a favourable group at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Draw on Friday, December 5.

The Black Stars will know their fate when the world gathers at the John F. Kennedy Centre of Performing Arts in Washington DC for the final draw of the global competition to be co-hosted by the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

Ghana booked a place at the World Cup, its fifth qualification after topping Group I of the qualifiers with 25 points from ten matches.

Kofi Adams said: “As we enter into Friday the 5th of December which already is a special day in Ghana, let’s all remember and say a prayer for our senior national team the Black Stars to be drawn in a group that will give us a pathway to victory. Our prayer counts, let’s join hands in prayer for a victorious draw.”

The four time African champions first appeared at the Germany 2006 FIFA World Cup where they reached the round of 16 before moving a notch higher into the quarter finals four years later in South Africa.

Ghana however gave a bad account of itself at the 2014 edition, exiting at the group stage. They failed to qualify for the 2018 version in Russia before another group stage exit in Qatar 2022.
