Zamalek have been struck with yet another transfer ban by FIFA, with the new sanction appearing on the global body’s official disciplinary list on Monday.
According to FIFA’s platform dedicated to transfer-ban decisions, the White Castle have received a fresh penalty that prevents the club from registering new players for three transfer windows.
This latest ruling brings Zamalek’s total active sanctions to five separate transfer bans, as listed below:
3 November: Three transfer bans, all lifted upon payment.
6 November: One transfer ban, lifted upon payment.
24 November: One transfer ban lasting three full registration periods.
The first four penalties were imposed due to outstanding financial dues owed to former coach José Gomes and his assistants, which the club has not settled.
The new blow comes at a sensitive time for Zamalek, who are competing in the CAF Confederation Cup. The Egyptian giants opened their group-stage campaign with a 1–0 victory over ZESCO United on Sunday at Cairo International Stadium.
Zamalek will now travel to South Africa to face Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday in the second round of the Confederation Cup group stage.
