Wydad AC midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch has urged his teammates to hold their heads high despite the club's early exit from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the USA.

The Moroccan outfit are unable to progress in the tournament after they fell to Italian giants Juventus 4-1 in Sunday’s Group G clash at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Rising star striker Kenan Yildiz scored twice for the Serie A side and came close to a hat-trick, but his sixth-minute shot was ultimately deflected into the Wydad net by defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil.

However, Wydad did not leave without a goal, striking in the 25th minute through Lorch's excellent effort. Ghanaian star Samuel Obeng flicked a clever header to winger Nordin Amrabat on the left wing, and the former Morocco national team player played a precise pass to set up South African Lorch for a clever chipped finish.

“We face the best teams in the world, and we learn. There is a good team spirit. We've learned a lot of things. We don't dwell on the defeat, but on all the experience gained. I thank the fans, they give everything for us,” Sundowns loanee Lorch told FIFA.com.

"It was a tough match, but we knew we had to stick to our game. We managed to do that, and now we need to keep going. We still have a big game ahead against a great club like Manchester City and we want to win," said Juventus midfielder Francisco Conceicao.

Wydad conclude their campaign in the USA against Emirati club Al Ain, who suffered a 6-0 defeat against Manchester City, on Monday.
