Former Cameroon forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has given much credit to Paris Saint-Germain despite their FIFA Club World Cup loss against Chelsea on Sunday.
The 36-year-old, who spent two seasons with the Ligue 1 club says, PSG deserve some respect after a long season that brought home the UEFA Champions League and the Coup de France trophies last term.
PSG had eliminated giants Bayern Munich and Real Madrid on the road to the finals where they crushed to Chelsea by 3-0 at the MetLife Stadium.
Choupo-Moting, who currently plays for Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls, spoke after the nerve wracking encounter.
“A hundred percent they can be proud and not only that they won the [UEFA] Champions League [but] the way they played the whole year I think [I have a lot of] big respect,” he said.
“They conquered the whole world kind of but today [against Chelsea], disappointing a little but it was a long season as well. They looked a bit tired today but definitely next year, they will be competing for the trophy again.”
The 73 capped Cameroonian was a member of the PSG squad that lost the 2020 UEFA Champions League finals to Bayern Munich. He joined Bayern Munich later, helping them to the 2020 FIFA Club glory in Qatar.
