Financial disagreement heats up between Marcel Koller and Al Ahly after sacking

The saga surrounding former Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller appears to be far from over.

Al Ahly had announced the departure of the Swiss manager following the club’s elimination from the CAF Champions League semifinals at the hands of South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns over the weekend.

However, a new dispute has emerged regarding the settlement of Koller’s financial entitlements. According to Al Ahly’s interpretation of the contract, Koller is entitled to two months’ salary as compensation for early termination before the end of the current season.

Yet, complications have arisen due to a clause concerning the next year of his contract. Koller insists that he should also receive payment for the next season, arguing that extra year grants him further rights.

Al Ahly, on the other hand, didn’t expect that the extra year would influence the early termination.

This disagreement could potentially escalate into a legal battle, and for now, the only way to avoid a prolonged legal conflict is for both parties to reach an amicable settlement. Otherwise, the situation is likely to have further repercussions in the future.
