Finidi George eyes victory in rescheduled NPFL clash

Rivers United head coach Finidi George is targeting nothing less than maximum points as his side prepares to take on Bendel Insurance in their rescheduled Match Day 9 fixture in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The “Pride of Rivers” had their match postponed due to continental duties and will now be away to the “Benin Arsenal” at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Thursday (4PM Nigerian time).

Speaking via the club’s Facebook page, George acknowledged the difficulty of the encounter but maintained that his team is focused on securing a positive result to climb the table.

Finidi George Demands Win Against Bendel Insurance

“It’s a difficult game. Normally, in the past year, we had good results over there. We had a draw, so we’re expecting to get something similar, or even a win,” George stated. “So, we go with all that readiness to face Bendel Insurance.”

George emphasised the importance of the result in closing the gap on the current table toppers. Rivers United has played fewer matches than any other side in the league and currently sits in ninth place; a victory could potentially propel them into third position.

“We know they will come all out to see how they could get a win. But, on the other hand, we know what we are playing for, we want to bridge up the gap up on the log. A good result there will mean a lot to us,” he added.

In the other crucial rescheduled fixture, second-place Nasarawa United will welcome relegation-struggling Remo Stars.
