Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George has assured that his team has nothing to fear in the ongoing 2025-26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The “Pride of Port Harcourt”, who were runners-up last season, began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against defending champions Remo Stars at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, which Remo Stars are using as their temporary home last Friday.
They now turn their attention to Kwara United in a Matchday Two fixture at home this weekend.
Speaking to Rivers United’s media, Finidi stressed that facing strong opposition early in the season is a good thing as it will expose any mistakes that need to be corrected.
“It’s good that the fixture is coming strong with tough teams because if there are mistakes, we will know how to correct them.”
He also added that Rivers United will play their best football this season as they are not afraid of any team.
“We are not scared of any team this season, we have enough quality that can make us match any team. We will play our best football this season, and hopefully, we will get the result we deserve.”
Rivers United are aiming to improve on last season’s performance and secure the NPFL crown.
