Fisayo Dele-Bashiru assist helps Italian Serie A club Lazio secure their place in the Coppa Italia semi-finalswith a penalty shootout victory over Bologna.

The 25-year-old made a telling impact in his first start since returning from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria.

He played a key role in Lazio’s equaliser during a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. Bologna had taken the lead in the 30th minute when Santiago Castro headed home to put the hosts in front.

Dele-Bashiru sparks the comeback

​However, in the 48th minute, Dele-Bashiru surged forward down the flank after receiving a pass from Adam Marusic. Under pressure, he delivered a low cross into the area, which Tijjani Noslin met calmly to level the score at 1-1.

​With neither side able to find a winner in normal time, the contest was settled by penalties. Lazio converted allfour of their spot-kicks, while Bologna scored only once and missed twice, sending the Biancocelesti into the last four.

​Lazio will now face Atalanta in a two-legged semi-final. The first leg is scheduled for March 4th, with Atalanta hosting before the return fixture at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
