The eagerly awaited ‘Cats derby’ failed to produce goals as AFC Leopards and Sofapaka battled to a 0-0 draw at Dandora Stadium on Wednesday.
The outcome saw Ingwe relinquish their fourth spot as KCB, who managed a 1-0 win against Bandari reclaimed it. AFC Leopards are now fifth on the 18-team league table with 34 points from 21 matches while Sofapaka dropped to eighth with 29 points from 22 matches.
Meanwhile, the Bankers scored a seventh minute goal courtesy of Joshua Nyathini to floor visiting Dockers 1-0. The win enabled them to leapfrog Ingwe up to the fourth spot, where they now occupy with 35 points from 25 matches.
The Bankers have secured nine wins, eight draws and suffered four defeats. For Bandari, the defeat saw them drop to sixth with 32 points accumulated from eight wins, eight draws and six defeats.
After their 5-0 win against Nairobi City Stars last time out, high-flying Kakamega Homeboyz maintained their resurgence under head coach Francis Baraza following their 3-1 victory against visiting Murang’a Seal at Mumias Complex.
Man of the moment Moses Shumah put Homeboyz ahead in the 17th minute before he doubled the scores in the 38th minute to earn a brace from the fixture. Lucas Maina pulled a goal back for Murang’a Seal in the first half stoppages to re-ignite a comeback in the second period.
However, it was Homeboyz who had the last laugh when Oliver Majak scored with seven minutes left to the clock to assure of the maximum points. Following the two consecutive wins, Homeboyz, have jumped to sixth with 33 points garnered from eight wins, nine draws and five defeats.
The defeat left Murang’a Seal sitting 13th with 23 points from 22 matches.
In another match, Posta Rangers scored first but failed to protect their lead as they settled for a 1-1 draw against promoted side Mara Sugar. Faustin Ojiambo put Posta ahead in the 32nd minute but Mara responded in the 42nd minute when Raila Christopher bundled home from cross range following an assist from Curtis Wekesa.
