AFC Leopards scored in the second half to defeat Nairobi City Stars 1-0 in a Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League fixture at Dandora Stadium on Sunday.
Ingwe went into the game seeking to bounce back following a disappointing 1-1 draw against Murang’a Seal in their last outing. Despite a strong start in the first half, AFC were not able to break down a resilient City Stars side.
However, in the second half, they continued to attack Simba wa Nairobi and their efforts were rewarded in the 74th minute when Kayci Odhiambo drilled home with his right foot for the only goal of the game.
The win enabled AFC Leopards to move above KCB and into the fourth position with 29 points from 18 matches. They have managed eight wins, five draws and suffered five defeats.
For City Stars, they dropped to 16th position, one place above the relegation zone, with 17 points from 19 matches. City Stars have won four matches, drawn five and lost 10.
In another fixture, Tusker failed to reclaim top spot following a drab 0-0 draw against KCB. The Brewers needed to win to overtake Kenya Police but their efforts were thwarted by the Bankers, who remained tight at the back.
Tusker stayed joint top with Police on 37 points accumulated from 11 wins, four draws and four defeats. Police are top owing to a better goal difference. The law enforcers have secured 10 wins, seven draws and suffered two defeats.
Elsewhere, Bandari secured a vital 3-2 away win against Murang’a Seal at SportPesa Arena. The visiting Dockers took a deserved lead in the 20th minute through William Wadri, but John Kiplangat replied for Murang’a Seal five minutes later.
Wadri scored the second for Bandari in the 29th minute for a 2-1 lead at the half-time break.
On resumption, Emoni Tanui added the third for Bandari in the 77th minute before Rajab Omar scored in the stoppages for the home side.
The win pushed Bandari to sixth on the log with 29 points from 19 matches while Murang’a Seal dropped to 11th with 23 points from 19 outings.
