Gor Mahia revived their hopes of retaining the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title following a convincing 4-0 win against Mara Sugar at Dandora Stadium on Sunday.
The record champions were on rampant against the promoted side from the onset and goals from Sharrif Musa, Enoch Morisson, Gedeon Bendeka and Alpha Onyango propelled them to victory.
Musa opened the floodgate of goals in the 10th minute before Morisson made it 2-0 in the 27th minute for a comfortable lead at the half-time break. The second half saw K'Ogalo continue searching for more goals and they went 3-0 up in the 56th courtesy of Musa's effort.
Alpha Onyango wrapped up the emphatic win in added minutes of the stoppages to hand the defending champions their 14th win of the current campaign. The win enabled Gor Mahia to move to within a point of second-placed Tusker FC, who suffered a shock 2-1 defeat against Mathare United also on Sunday.
Gor Mahia have garnered 50 points while Tusker have 51 but the former have one game in hand. Having produced a comeback to beat KCB 2-1 on Saturday, Kenya Police FC remained top of the 18-team table with 52 points from 28 matches.
Meanwhile, Kisii-based Glamour Boys Shabana remained fourth with 46 points from 28 matches following their 2-0 win against bottom- placed Nairobi City Stars.
