Shabana FC claimed a deserved 2-0 FKF Premier League victory against table leaders KCB in an entertaining fixture at Gusii Stadium on Sunday.

The Kisii-based Glamour Boys looked the most dangerous side from the onset but they were forced to wait until the 29th minute to find the back of the net. Lead striker Brian Michira took advantage of a spilled ball from goalkeeper Farouk Shikhalo to score the opener.

The second half continued to be a tight affair but it was Tore Bobe, who added the second at the stroke of full time courtesy of Austine Odongo. The win enabled Shabana to move to fifth on the 18-team league table with 20 points from 14 matches. Tore Bobe have managed five wins, five draws and four defeats.

The defeat denied the Bankers a chance to consolidate their lead at the summit as they are now level on 24 points with second-placed Tusker. The Brewers jumped to second following their 2-1 win against Bidco United at Dandora Stadium.

Ryan Ogam scored a goal in either half to help the Brewers bounce from their humiliating 4-1 defeat against AFC Leopards last time out. Ogam opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a sweet left footed finish from inside the box. He had made a good run from the middle of the pack, Shaphan Siwa picking him up with a brilliant ball for his ninth assist of the season.

The second goal finally arrived in the 59th minute, again through the Siwa-Ogam partnership. Siwa picked the ball deep in midfield, dribbled away from his markers before sending Ogam through, the latter dinking the ball over the onrushing keeper for his 12th of the season.

With a two-goal cushion to chase, Bidco put in some pressure to try get their way back in. They eventually did so at the stroke of 90 minutes when Simon Munala beat Brian Opondo with a shot unmarked from the right.

While Tusker moved to second, Bidco dropped 16th, one place above the relegation zone, with 14 points from 14 matches. Elsewhere, Mathare United produced a superb second half display to earn a 2-2 draw against Bandari.

Playing at home, the Dockers had raced into a 2-0 first half lead. John Macharia set up Sharrif Majabe to open the scoring for Bandari in the 20th minute before Baja Nyamawi doubled their lead in the 41st minute.

However, the ‘Slum Boys’ came back a more rejuvenated side in the second period and they reduced the deficit in the 71st minute through Ellie Asieche.
